Read the application rules and exceptions in the cited sections before closing a finding. This is general information, not legal advice.

• Is Subchapter D applicable to this dwelling? 92.152.
• Is each exterior window fitted with an operable latch? 92.153(a)(1) and (h).
• Does each exterior door have a doorknob lock or keyed dead bolt? 92.153(a)(2).
• Does each exterior sliding glass door have a pin lock and a handle latch or security bar? 92.153(a)(3) and (4).
• Does each exterior door have a keyless bolting device and door viewer, subject to the statutory exceptions? 92.153(a)(5), (b), (e), (f) and (g).
• Do device height, strike plate and bolt throw match the applicable requirements? 92.154 and 92.155.
• Was rekeying completed by the seventh day after turnover, subject to the statutory terms? 92.156(a) and (e).
• Are device repair requests tracked under the repair duty and applicable timing rules? 92.158 and 92.161.

Arrival and shared routes

• Can you read the property address and building identifiers from the approach?
• Can you see who is approaching an entrance from the usual walking route?
• Are landscaping, stored items or parked vehicles blocking a useful sightline?
• Which lights are out or obscured on the route between parking and entrances?

Doors, gates and keys

• Do shared doors and gates close and latch during the walk?
• Who can issue, recover or disable a key, card or access code?
• How is contractor access approved and ended?
• Can residents explain how to report a door that is propped open?

Cameras and existing devices

• Which entrances or routes can the existing cameras actually show?
• Can an authorized manager retrieve a recording for a known time and location?
• Who holds device administrator access, and who reviews changes?
• How are lost credentials, device faults and missing recordings reported?

People, records and follow-up

• Who receives a resident report after the office closes?
• What do incident logs and open work orders say about this location?
• Do the written procedures match the hours and tasks in the vendor contract?
• Who will own each finding, and when will it be reviewed?
